Steel Casting Overview
Steel is an alloy of iron, carbon, and other elements. Delivering a very high strength-to-cost ratio, steel is commonly used across a wide variety of industrial applications, including architecture, infrastructure, planes, trains, and automobiles.
Steel casting is one of the most common ways parts are fabricated using this high-utility material. With steel casting, molten steel is poured into a custom-designed mold, taking the shape of the negative space in the mold. After solidifying, complex steel parts can be removed from the mold and used in a tremendous range of applications. Examples include railroad tracks, structural beams, appliances, containers, cutlery, surgical instruments, sculpture, jewelry, and more.
